December 08, 2004 Thank you for the many requests for the continued updates, time sure flies in between each one. Happy Holidays to everyone!! We celebrated Thanksgiving at Mom and Dads house and we indulged in all the normal goodies. We cooked a 20lb bird on the Weber Grill as Dad does every year, only this year Gregg took over all the physical duties and “Glen” supervised from bed! The weather was wonderful that day so we had dinner on the patio, it's always nice for Dad to be outside. We celebrated Jackson’s (Lisa and Gregg’s little guy) 2nd birthday that day too!! We will have all our Christmas celebrations at their home as well; it’s just easier on both Mom and Dad. If you take Dad out of his element for long periods of time (at this point) you travel with a great deal of necessities. We put up decorations and a Christmas tree at their home, after all we have many things to celebrate and be thankful for and at the same time, we continue to pray and ask the Lord to watch over us all. Dad’s condition hasn’t changed much; he is gaining strength in his biceps but not the kind of strength you would imagine. When he is sitting up right, he can drag his left arm up the front of his body, after about 5-10 reps…he is exhausted. He seems to have more progress on his left than his right. He has regained feeling in several areas of his legs, toes, buns and parts of his arms, nothing in his hands…yet! We do tests on him with his eyes closed and ask him where we are touching, 85% of the time he is correct. Feeling and function is NOT the same thing, however regaining feeling can only be a good thing…we hope!! His spirits come and go…most of the time he is strong, but we all continue to have our moments. He cant seem to nip this spasm thing, so we have requested that he have further testing (x-rays, MRI’s, CAT Scans) to see if something is going on outside the injury. We’ll post results on the next update. Mom is hanging on and doing her best. Her sister is coming out in the next few days, which will be good for her. They have had several visitors; it’s amazing how many people in our lives have a connection (family member, home, business) to Arizona. Thank you, to all of you who take time out of your travel schedules to come visit, it means a lot to both of them and to us kids as well. This Sunday we are taking a family photo and we will post in on the website along with a Christmas letter from our parents. Also, I will post current pictures of everyone in the “photo album” section and update the “contact us” information. For those of you who have asked about Bob’s back, he’s getting along just fine. He has regained most of his feeling and function too! Thank you for your continued care, prayers and correspondence…we are surrounded by love! Have a happy and healthy holiday and we look forward to hearing from ALL of you on the website. Hint Hint!! Love, The Henry Dream Team |
